Focus of Centre:
To train students in the use of software relevant to their employment/personal aim, ie, Microsoft Office programs, and Sage for computerised accounts. Individualised programmes are agreed for students to achieve their aim.

The Technology
All workstations have Microsoft Office packages and Sage Line 50, together with email and Internet access to allow the students to gain relevant experience to be able to gain employment.
Assistive Technology
We have a range of technology/assistive technology available through our Access Centre (supported by funding from the Karten Trust) so that individuals can access suitable equipment to meet their individual needs.

Services on offer to the network
We can offer assistance/advice regarding a range of physical disabilities. Also able to share good practice to make learning ‘fun’, through work done by the Centre Head as an Advanced Learning Coach.
Partnership
Through the Subject Learning Coach network Christine has a partnership with other subject learning coaches in many colleges and other organisations across the country to share good practice.
Any other information
Our Access Centre Manager is an accredited trainer TechDis. The Karten Trust has also funded other projects at Portland College such as ICT equipment for the new College library which has been set up, giving access to all students in the College.
