Services/focus of the Karten Centre

At Cantraybridge we offer training in farming, bird/animal care, horticulture, wood skills, market gardening, cafe operation and employability skills. Our Karten Centre provides support across each of these areas through the provision of mobile devices to allow access to internal and external learning resources at the point of use. We also provide desktop PCs, laptop PCs, visual display equipment and cloud storage to allow our clients to access learning in a way that suits them.

Clients

Our clients include residential students who access college five days a week, day students who access college between one and five days per week, community groups and schools who access our centre through project work giving one-off or short periods of project work (up to three months) and single-visit groups who have an option to use our mobile technology if it fits with their needs.

Disabilities

All of our clients have physical or learning difficulties or are on the autistic spectrum.

Technology used in the Karten Centre

Mobile devices - Android tablets and Apple iPads.
Fixed desktop PCs all running Windows 7.
EPOS unit.
Interactive whiteboards.
Laptop PCs - including touchscreen units.
Onsite server, gigabit switches, fibre connection, NAS storage, superfast broadband.
Cloud domain.
Site-wide wired and wireless network, including outdoor spaces.

Various keyboard formats, pressure pads, touch screens etc.

Services offered to the Network

We would be able to offer experience in developing a social enterprise, bringing together mobile technology with both cloud-based and local storage solutions and day-to-day management of network, servers, access points etc.
