Services/focus of the Karten Centre
Technology can be invaluable for people with sight loss both as a tool for learning and communication, and for providing visual stimulation. By using the appropriate technology, clients can maintain independent living skills, communicate with friends and family, and pursue hobbies / entertainment. The Karten Room at Fife Society for the Blind gives blind and partially sighted people the opportunity to see what technology is available, get advice on appropriate technology, as well as the chance to try before you buy. Training is also available on using tablet and smartphone technology.
Adults with sight loss - we have around 4,700 people registered with us.
We help people who are blind and partially sighted enjoy independence in all areas of their lives.
All our clients have a visual impairment. Many have additional health problems such as diabetes, mobility problems, hearing loss etc.
