Services/focus of the Karten Centre

Student-led activities such as functional skills and student council sessions. The computer equipment is also used to support students to plan routes for their travel training and compile research/documents to aid their future plans in the transitions groups. Camera/recording equipment is used for student events/projects.

Clients

Glasshouse College is a post-16 education provision for young people with learning, emotional, social and behavioural difficulties. They are full-time learners (35 hours per week, Monday to Friday).

Disabilities

A range of special educational needs.
Most students have a principal diagnosis of Autsim/ASD, but many also have multiple diagnoses, such as Asperger's, OCD, Prada Willis, mental health issues, depression/high anxiety, ADHD.

Karten Centre Staff

7 members of staff access the space on a weekly basis as part of running the sessions mentioned on page 2.

Karten Centre Hours

  • Functional skills - approx. 10 hrs per week
  • Student Council - 2.5 hours per week
  • Transition seminars - 7.5 hours per week
  • Ad hoc travel training research - approx. 2 hours per day
  • E-safety training for students - when required/due
