Services/focus of the Karten Centre

The CTEC centre offers an assessment to visually impaired people to explore their IT needs. This could be speech or magnification software, use of computer, Apple Mac, iPads and iPhones. There is also an opportunity for service users to try out other low vision equipment such as video magnifiers. Once the need has been established one to one learning is provided by trained volunteers. The project is run in partnership with Action for Blind People who provide the technical expertise.

Clients

Our clients are all part time learners, we offer one to one sessions over a six week period with a trained volunteer. Once the aim has been achieved the clients may decide that they want to learn another facet of IT.
