STOP PRESS: 2011 Karten Conference will be held at QAC Birmingham

STOP PRESS: The 2011 Karten Conference will be held at QAC Birmingham on Tuesday 25th October. The theme this year will be Creativity through Technology. Look out for the next newsletter with details.

Ian Karten MBE, 1920 -2011

It is with deep regret that we have to announce that Ian Karten MBE passed away peacefully on Sunday 8th May.

Ian’s vision and commitment to changing the lives of disabled people has been – and will continue to be – an inspiration to us all. Only 3 weeks ago a lunch was held for Ian and his wife Mildred to celebrate the achievements of the Ian Karten Charitable Trust at Wisley Gardens – a lovely sunny day in beautiful surroundings, with lots of happy memories. So many people have sent moving tributes to Ian, so many comments on the legacy he leaves. And so many pledges to continue the work that Ian started.

We remember Mildred in our thoughts and prayers, and send her our most sincere condolences.

Karten Network website is live!!

Hi All,

The new Karten Network website is finally live.

I have added to my profile

Hi all

I have just updated my profile.  I trust that is ok and perhaps it needs changing but just wanted to experiment.

I am possibly looking in all the wrong places and need to practise more but when I clicked on a post I tried to comment but couldn’t get very far.

Will try and visit again soon – development looks good so far.

Christine

I HAVE FINALLY GOT HERE!

Hi all

Sorry I haven’t got here sooner but have been on summer leave from work.  I have also had difficulty, on my computer at work, getting on but having tried now from another computer perhaps this is just the excuse I needed to get them to upgrade mine!

All is looking good with the website.  Prhaps we could have a tour around it at the next meeting and a lesson on everything we can do on the site.  Now I have just got to find where the ‘post’ button is.

‘Meet the Team’ layout

Hi,

Everything looks great! On the ‘Meet the Team’ page, I notices tyhat on the 2nd line of each team member (where it says Trustee or Director…), there doesn’t seem to be a line-spacing, so it all looks slightly squashed if you know what I mean. Any chance of adding some spaing for between the title lines?

Map options

Hi

I like the new maps! Is it possible to write Eire on Map 2? If so, I much prefer that version. Thanks for finding them
