Services/focus of the Karten Centre

Cantraybridge College offer training in farming, bird/animal care, horticulture, wood skills, market gardening, cafe operation, arts and crafts, property maintenance, employability skills, as well as the Digital Studio. We also have the residential accommodation where students attending college are able to learn Independent Living, social and emotional skills working towards living independently in the community.
Our Karten Centre provides support across each of these areas through the provision of android devices to allow access to learning resources and information at the point of use. Our digital studio is equipped with hi-tec computers, with hi spec graphics cards and HD monitors. Our focus is on 3D modelling, sculpting, animation, as well as being accessible to all students/staff to access the internet for learning resources and interests and hobbies. We have 3D printers which are used for 3D printing of the designs created by the students and laser engraving in the Wood skills with their own designs. We also have the opportunity to venture into the world of Virtual reality, being able to use apps like Google earth for learning and other apps like beatbox to help with coordination.
Cantraybridge believe in taking a person centred approach and all service users have different ways of processing information and communication methods. We strive to accommodate with the preferred means of communication tools/methods for each individual and work within their abilities, so that they can fulfil their outcomes. We source experts to teach specific interests such as digital/video editing, photography, photoshop etc.

Clients

Clients of the Karten Centre spread from the residents who live in the accommodation and the college students, to individuals with Independent service funds in the community. Schools and Community groups also have the access through arranged visits and scheduled training or tours of the facilities.
