Services/focus of the Karten Centre
Employment - We provide a range of specialist employment services across the South West and North West of England and South Wales.
Our teams provide personalised support to enable people to overcome challenges with finding and staying in employment. Our employability service includes training in the following areas:
- Goal setting
- Communication skills
- Personal presentation
- CV development
- Job searching
- Interview techniques
- Building confidence/self-belief
- Overcoming barriers
Mental health - We provide specialist services in Devon for people experiencing mental health concerns, ranging from crisis support/hospital prevention to ongoing recovery and self-management. We offer free activities and courses for people who have mental health issues, their family, friends and the professionals that support them. Courses and activities include:
- Self-management of anxiety
- Building self-esteem and assertiveness skills
- Understanding and learning ways to manage self-harming behaviours
- Understanding and Living Well with Unusual Experiences
- Living in the Present, Not in the Past
- Understanding and Managing Depression
- Promoting Our Wellbeing and Emotional Regulation
- Mindfulness and Taking Mindfulness Forward
- Other self-management sessions on issues like managing anger and promoting good sleep
Courses are co-designed and delivered by a peer trainer who has lived experience of mental health issues, and a professional trainer.
Supported living - We provide specialist services in Devon that people can use to gain independent living skills and opportunities to be a part of their community, and assist with mental health recovery. Our supported living service includes training in the following areas:
- Budget and finance
- Personal Hygiene
- Food Hygiene (domestic)
- Nutritional info and exercise
- Travel training
- Emotional intelligence
- Growth and support with daily living skills
