
Services/focus of the Karten Centre
Since 1953, we have been supporting children, young people and adults with a wide range of complex physical and learning disabilities. Our aim is to enable those with disability to live a fulfilled and independent life.
Put simply – we ‘Support’. We’re passionate about providing quality support services that enable those with complex physical and/or learning disabilities to access and use their inherent capabilities. Supportability enables those with disability to enjoy and take part in everyday life experiences.
We offer Day Opportunities, Adult, Children's and Young People's Leisure and Residential Choices.

Clients
Children, young people and adults aged between 4 and 60+
Day opportunities with people supported attending 9am to 4pm Monday-Friday plus extended opening hours when required, as well as Saturday children's group and Monday evening youth group.
Residential home for 13 residents
Leisure groups for adults aged 16+

Disabilities
Although originally founded to support children, young people and adults with Cerebral Palsy, our expertise now extends to caring for those who have a range of physical and learning disabilities, autistic spectrum conditions and complex health needs.

Technology used in the Karten Centre
In 2009 Karten funded 5 purpose-built workstations, each comprising of a fully height adjustable desk with large LCD touch monitor as well as a fully interactive 50” plasma touch screen, installed on a height-adjustable trolley. 6 years later in 2015 further funding was donated and the money was put to good use updating the specifications of the ICT machines, purchasing new specialist software, Ipads, and an interactive Omiflex.
